Tokyo filmfest awards Iran’s ‘World Northern Hemisphere’

The 2021 edition of the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) in Japan has awarded Iranian movie ‘World Northern Hemisphere’.

Written and directed by Hossein Tehrani, the movie won the award for the best future film in Asia at the 34th edition of the Japanese event.

‘World Northern Hemisphere’ is about racism. “Which race is superior?!” its synopsis reads.

The movie has been taken part in the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival (CICFF) in the US. The CICFF is the first Academy-qualifying children’s film festival in the world.

The 34th edition of the TIFF was held on October 30-November 8, 2021.
